I just saw the episode from Futurama titled "Where No Fan Has Gone Before"
and noticed that James Doohan was the only original cast member who wasn't
in the show. Later in the show when the Star Trek cast had to fight the
Futurama characters Shatner asked Nimoy if there was a episode were he
threw his shoe at the enemy and Nimoy said "you mean Doohan?" and they
both
laughed. Did Doohan do somthing to piss the other cast members off?
It could be that he wasn't in the show due to poor health. The last Trek
convention that I went to (about 3 or so years ago), he looked awful. While
autographing a Hamilton Collection plate with his TOS likeness, he was
concentrating so hard on not messing up that he was actually drooling down
his chin. I felt really bad for him. I think that he must have had a
stroke or heart attack or something because his signature has changed.
Perhaps there are some had feelings with some of the TOS cast members, but I
don't think that would have stopped him from making an appearance based on
that.

Are you sure he wasn't staring at Mary's breasts?

He could have been staring at Mary's breasts, I suppose. Then, again, there
was a gal (it wasn't Mary) in Klingon attire at the convention that was
showing a lot of cleavage. He could have been thinking of and/or checking
her out (I sure as heck was!)!

Seriously, though, I think he was pretty ill. When a local TV station
showed up with their camera, he really rallied and put up a good front.
After the TV bunch moved on, the utter exhaustion forced him to take a long
break back in his hotel room.

Park Place on life's Monopoly Board

Lo! I, the man whose Muse whylome did maske, As time her taught, in
lowly Shephards weeds, Am now enforst, a farre unfitter taske,
For trumpets sterne to change mine Oaten reeds,
And sing of Knights and Ladies gentle deeds;
Whose praises having slept in silence long,
Me, all too meane, the sacred Muse areeds
To blazon broade emongst her learned throng:
Fierce warres and faithful loves shall moralize my song.
