"A new series in development is going where no Star Trek show has gone
before – into live-action comedy. The project for Paramount+ was
announced during the Star Trek Universe panel at Comic-Con by moderator
Justin Simien and Tawny Newsome, voice actor from Star Trek: Lower Decks."

"The two are co-writing the half-hour comedy with the steward of the
Star Trek franchise, Alex Kurtzman, who will be making his half-hour
writing debut."

I feel like calling him a "steward" is a bit rich. If recent Trek has
shown us anything it's that the shows are better when he's in a producer
role, rather than a writing role. He's got some truly awful writing
credits under his belt.

Can't say I'm excited. I'm more optimistic about Newsome/Simien's
writing talents but if this is what LD was canceled for, I'm disappointed.
